The markets opened marginally higher and traded in a narrow range throughout the session and closed on flat note.
Among the sectoral indices Auto and Healthcare gained more than 1% while Realty and FMCG were the losers. Among the Sensex stocks Bajaj Auto (2.70%), Tata Motors (2.70%) and Sun Pharma (2.52%) were the gainers while DLF (2.05%) and ITC (1.79%) were the losers. The Sensex gained 34 points or 0.20% to close at 17,392 and the Nifty gained 10 points or 0.19% to close at 5,300.

Total traded turnover stood at Rs 118,365 cr. In equities both FIIs & DIIs were net of buyers (Rs 222 cr) & (Rs 38 cr) respectively .On the derivatives side, FIIs were net buyers in Index Futures (Rs 589 cr) and Index Options (Rs 1,405 cr) while they were net sellers in Stock Futures (Rs 297 cr) and Stock Options (Rs 78 cr).
The US markets ended lower amidst mixed earnings from corporate and concerns over the Spanish banking sector. The Dow Jones lost 83 points or 0.63% to close at 13,033 while NASDAQ lost 11 points or 0.37% to close at 3,031.
The global markets reacted to concerns over Spanish bad loans which touched an 18 year high. The markets will open on a soft note and sentiment will be driven by result of French and Spanish bond auction due later in the day.
The Asian markets are trading mixed. Nikkei is trading lower by 0.59% while Hang Seng is trading higher by 0.28%.
