BSE Index Analysis, Securties , Standard Experts 


The markets opened on a soft note and traded in a tight range till the noon session. The markets slipped in the afternoon session closing the day on a weak note. All the sectors except healthcare ended in the red with Capital Goods losing the most. Among the Sensex stocks BHEL (4.93%), Hero Motocorp (4.42%) and Tata Steel (4.39%) were the losers while Cipla (2.46%), and Wipro (0.63%) were the gainers. The Sensex dropped 320 points or 1.87% to close at 16,831 and the Nifty dropped 102 points or 1.96% to close at 5,087.
Total traded turnover stood at Rs 126,064 cr. In equities FIIs were net of buyers of (Rs 428 cr) while DIIs were net sellers of (Rs 280 cr) .On the derivatives side, FIIs were net sellers in Index Futures ( Rs 1,038 cr), & Stock Futures( Rs 178 cr) while they were net buyers in Index Options ( Rs 745 cr) and Stock Options (Rs 17 cr).
The US markets ended lower on weaker than expected job growth in the month of April . The Dow Jones lost 168 points or 1.27% to close at 13,038 while NASDAQ lost 68 points or 2.25% to close at 2,956.

Weaker than expected US jobs data and election results in France and Greece lead to a sell-off in most of the global markets. Indian indices are also expected to open on a weak note and outlook for the near term remains bearish. Global developments along with clarity on the GAAR issue will be monitored closely for further direction.

The Asian markets are trading negative. Nikkei is trading lower by 2.61% while Hang Seng is trading lower by 2.41%.
