BSE Morning Earning Note - 6 Nov 2012

The markets opened on a soft note and traded sideways till the noon session. The market breadth turned negative in the afternoon session and indices moved marginally lower but recovered the losses before ending the day on a flat note. 

Among the sectoral indices FMCG gained more than 1% while Power, Auto & Metals lost around 0.50% each. In the Sensex stocks ITC (1.64%), Dr Reddy's Lab (1.36%), and Maruti Suzuki (0.89%) were the gainers while Hindalco (2.55%), Jindal Steel (2.04%), and Bajaj Auto (2.02%) were among the losers. The Sensex gained 7 points or 0.04% to close at 18,763 and the Nifty gained 7 points or 0.11% to close at 5,704.

Total traded turnover stood at Rs 104,772 cr. In equities FIIs were net buyers ( Rs 374 cr) while DIIs were net sellers (Rs 344 cr) . On the derivatives side, FIIs were net sellers in Index Futures (Rs 120 cr), Stock Futures (Rs 11 cr) and Stock Options (Rs 4 cr) while they were net buyers Index Options (Rs 308 cr).

The US markets ended marginally higher amidst lacklustre trade as investor remained cautious a day ahead of the presidential elections. The Dow Jones gained 19 points or 0.15% to close at 13,112 while the NASDAQ gained 18 points or 0.59 % to close at 3,000.

Asian markets are trading marginally lower with investor risk appetite curbed by uncertainty over the outcome of Tuesday's tight U.S. presidential election and renewed doubts over Greece's political ability to push fiscal reforms. Indian indices are also expected to open on a soft note and global developments will be monitored closely for further direction.

The Asian markets are trading lower. Nikkei is trading lower by 0.36 % while Hang Seng is trading lower by 0.47%.
