Daily BSE Morning Note 12 DEC


After opening on a positive note the markets initially moved higher but gradually pared the gains by the noon session. The market breadth turned negative in the afternoon session as indices slipped lower, hovever the markets managed to recover most of losses ending the day marginally lower.  All the sectoral indices except FMCG ended in the red with Realty & Power losing more than 1% each. In the Sensex stocks Jindal Steel (2.54%), Bajaj Auto (2.28%) & Hindustan Unilever (2.08%) were the gainers while BHEL (2.59%), Hindalco (2.40%) & NTPC (1.66%) were among the losers. The Sensex lost 23 points or 0.12% to close at 19,387 and the Nifty lost 10 points or 0.17% to close at 5,899.

Total traded turnover stood at Rs 212,930 cr. In equities FIIs were net buyers of (Rs 1310 cr) while DIIs were net sellers of (Rs 1028 cr). On the derivatives side, FIIs were net buyers in Index Futures (Rs 487 cr) Index Options (Rs 255 cr) while they were net sellers in Stock Futures (Rs 16 cr) and Stock Options (Rs 16 cr).

The US markets ended higher led by gains in technology stocks and as investors await outcome of Fed Reserves policy meet.  The Dow Jones gained 79 points or 0.60% to close at 13,248 while the NASDAQ gained 35 points or 1.18% to close at 3,022.

The Asian markets are trading higher. Nikkei is higher by 0.48% and Hang Seng is currently higher by 0.71%
