BSE Daily Morning Note - 23 nov


The markets opened marginally higher and traded sideways to touch the previous close by the noon session. Led by buying in select IT & Capital Goods stocks the markets edged higher in the afternoon session and closed the day with modest gains. Among the sectoral indices Capital Goods & IT were the major gainers while Oil & Gas lost around half-a-percent. In the Sensex stocks SBI (1.89%), L&T (1.72%), and Infosys (1.55%) were the gainers while Tata Motors (2.49%), ICICI Bank (1.03%), and Sun Pharma (0.62%) were among the losers. The Sensex gained 57 points or 0.31% to close at 18,517 and the Nifty gained 13 points or 0.23% to close at 5,628.
Total traded turnover stood at Rs 167,122 cr. In equities FIIs were net buyers (Rs 115 cr) while DIIs were net sellers (Rs 164 cr). On the derivatives side, FIIs were net sellers in Index Futures (Rs 36 cr), Stock Futures (Rs 61 cr) Stock Options (Rs 18 cr) while they were net buyers in Index Options (Rs 79 cr).

The US markets were shut due to holiday.
Asian markets are trading marginally higher and activity remains subdued as US and Japanese markets were shut for holidays. Indian indices are also expected to open marginally higher and focus is likely to remain on the political developments in the winter session of the Parliament.

The Asian markets are trading higher. Nikkei is shut due to holiday while Hang Seng is trading higher by 0.33%.
