Daily BSE stock Index Morning Note - 10 Dec


The markets opened with a positive bias and edged higher initially but soon pared the gains in the first hour of trade. After shortly trading in the red the markets bounced back into the green and moved sideways in the afternoon session. The market breadth turned negative in the late session which led the indices lower closing the day on a weak note. Among the sectoral indices Consumer Durables & Auto gained around 0.50% while IT & Realty lost ~1% each. In the Sensex stocks Maruti (1.94%), Tata Power (0.87%) and BHEL (0.77%) were the gainers while Sterlite (2.25%), Tata Steel (1.19%) and TCS (1.13%) were among the losers. The Sensex lost 63 points or 0. 32% to close at 19,424 and the Nifty lost 24 points or 0.40% to close at 5,907.

Total traded turnover stood at Rs 172,877 cr. In equities FIIs were net buyers of (Rs 648 cr) while DIIs were net sellers of (Rs 798 cr). On the derivatives side, FIIs were net buyers in Index Futures (Rs 369 cr), Index Options (Rs 100 cr) and Stock Options (Rs 7 cr) while they were net sellers in Stock Futures (Rs 304 cr).

The US markets ended mixed on light volumes as investors remained optimistic after better-than-expected jobs report but correction in Apple weighed on NASDAQ. The Dow Jones gained 81 points or 0.62% to close at 13,155 while the NASDAQ lost 11 points or 0.38% to close at 2,978.
The Asian markets are trading higher. Nikkei is trading higher by 0.19% and Hang Seng is currently higher by 0.46%.
